Ken Van Wagenen, father of Melissa and Ryan Van Wagenen, has a real passion for music. Upon retiring recently, Ken convinced his old rock and roll buddies from over 30 years ago to dust off the cobwebs and bring the band back together. Ken Van Wagenen, Kevin Wright, have teamed up with Jim McCarty, a drum “hired gun” of DrumandBassTracks.com to write music, share music tracks and mix original music over the Internet. In the late 1970s and through the early 1980s Ken Van Wagenen and Kevin Wright performed in several bands appearing together in high school and college venues all over the western states. One of their favorite performers at that time had been Mark Farner, the energetic front man of Grand Funk Railroad. Later in life, the guys found a way to meet and perform live on stage with Mark Farner a number of times. This page is a tribute to how the music came back to life 3 decades later.
In March 2017, the guys got back together and joined up with Glenn Hughes, formerly of Deep Purple and Trapeze in the 1970s. They performed at the Whisky a Go Go on Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. "The Whisky" in Hollywood has been a club venue that launched the careers of The Doors, Led Zep, Jefferson Airplane, Cream, and most all bands of significance during those years. The song performed was Glenn's original song "Gettin' Tighter" and was co-written with Tommy Bolin. Tommy unfortunately died in late 1976 cutting short an otherwise fascinating career of rock and jazz fusion music.
